We are looking for computational and data scientists excited to work at the interfaces of functional genomics, statistical and population genetics, genomics, cell engineering, and data science. As a member of the Octant team, you’ll contribute to Octant’s scientific strategy by designing, executing on, and interpreting results for significant drug discovery programs. You’ll draw from diverse areas of biology to solve challenging problems beyond your area of expertise. In addition, you thrive on getting things done, are eager to trouble-shoot random tasks that arise in startups, and can navigate the uncertainty of an ever-changing and fast-paced environment.
In particular, we are looking for scientists who would be passionate about working on projects that involve using techniques such as deep mutational scanning to interpret large scale population genomic datasets such as UK BioBank.
Population Genomics – Work with large exome datasets and paired phenotype datasets (e.g., UK BioBank), and other large databases including TOPMED, TCGA, and ENCODE.
Functional Genomics – Statistical methodologies, computational pipelines, and custom analyses for interpreting functional genomic assays such as deep mutational scanning and MPRAs.
Have a PhD or equivalent experience in fields related to computational biology, bioinformatics, genetics. We are open to hiring at different experience levels.
Have programming experience in Python or R.
Have practical experience deriving insights from raw data and summary statistics of population-scale GWAS and/or genomic sequencing data.
Have a demonstrated record of working on and leading impactful projects.
