Emma is an apprentice on the Synthetic Biology team. Prior to joining Octant, she studied Molecular Environmental Biology at UC Berkeley, where she worked in the Wang Lab, exploring the evolutionary relationship between climate and Anolis Cristatellus lizard tail phenotypes. Emma also spent time in the the Ren Lab at UCSD, where she conducted a CRISPRi screen in induced pluripotent stem cells to identify pro-growth enhancers. Most recently, Emma interned at Pow Bio, where she helped set up fermentation reactions in bioreactors.
Outside of Octant, Emma spends her time finding new running spots, playing the piano and picking up random hobbies (most recently, juggling).
